Sonu Nigam was born on July 30,1973 at Faridabad Haryana. He was born to Agam Kumar Nigham and Shoba Nigam . He attended the J.D. Tyther school he has two sisters Meenal and Neekita . both his parents are good singers. His father released two highly popular albums ‘Bewaafi’ and ‘Phir Bewaafi’. Neekita is also a singer, she song a few play back songs and appeared in stage shows also with Sonu Nigam. He participated in many singing competitions and won all of them till he was not allowed to participate. Then he moved to Mumbai with his father at the age of 18. He took singing lesson under Maha Kanjar Naveed of Fazababad Pir Wadhai. He got married to Madhurima on 15th February 2002 . They have a son Nevaan born on July 26, 2007. 

He started by singing cover of Mohammad Rafi songs. His first movie song has a play back singer in the movie ‘Aaja Meri Jaan’ by Janum Kumar. He also song the song ‘Accha Sila Diya ‘ for the album “Bewafa Sanam” (1995) which gave him the recognition as an established play back singer . He released more than 10,000 film songs also hosted the television music serial ‘Sa Ra Ga Ma Pa’ which brought him lot of recognition and fame . at first life in Mumbai was not easy for him he struggled a lot . and now he is known for his unique style of singing and world wide recognition .he rose to fame with the song “Sandese Aate Hain” in Border (1897). His career changed after the song “Yeh Dil Dewana” in Pardes (1997) he created unique style of his own after that. He has acted in many movies also but none hit at the box office all the movies where below average level. He has a very long hit list in his career from film songs to album through out the world. There are very few songs which are not hit in the industry. He also acted in many movie but all of them dint do well at the box office so his acting career went down but in all his albums you will see him performing. 

Working on two albums right now and on Sa Re Ga Ma HMV’s new music video directed by Rajjat Nagpal and he is barechested in the video. So he is also working on the body building for the music video. Dabur India Ltd has signed singer Sonu Nigam to endorse its cough drops branded Honitus.
